REMOTE SENSING OF INDUSTRIAL STOCKPILES UNDER SNOW COVER: METHODS AND SCIENTIFIC CHALLENGES

Determining the volumes of stockpiled materials at industrial sites during the winter period is complicated by the presence of snow cover, which distorts surface geometry and reduces calculation accuracy. The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of remote sensing methods for mine surveying and geodetic support. The research is based on the analysis and comparison of laser scanning, satellite, radar, ground-penetrating radar, and photogrammetric methods. It is established that the integration of UAV-based photogrammetry and GNSS provides the highest efficiency. The scientific novelty lies in assessing the impact of snow cover on digital model accuracy and substantiating an integrated approach to their application.
