Increasing mining depths in the Karaganda Basin require reliable assessment of roadway stability. This study presents a geomechanical evaluation of the stress-strain state around the 4th Eastern Conveyor Entry of seam K7 at Kostenko Mine using the Rocscience suite. Joint mapping in Dips identified three dominant discon tinuity sets with dip angles of 40–80° and strike azimuths of 40–300°. The resulting wedge geometries were analysed in Unwedge. Unsupported roof wedges showed zero factor of safety and masses up to 49 t. Steel arch support increased roof FS to 2.3, but the critical J1∩J2 wedge still required reinforcement. A combined support system with 2.4 m steel-polymer bolts and 3.2 m cable bolts on a 1.5 × 1.5 m grid ensured FS ≥ 2.0 for all failure surfaces. Dips – Unwedge workflow proved effective for identifying hazardous zones and optimising support in deep coal roadways.
